Neil Weir

Neil is a former Pachyderm Studio engineer who has been recording music professionally for over ten years. He loves the way tape sounds and he likes some aspects of its workflow but he also thinks quality recordings can be made on Pro-Tools as long as contemporary gimmicks such as excessive editing, Autotune, Beat Detective, and an over-reliance on plug-ins are avoided.

Some of the bands that Neil has worked with include U.S. Maple, The Breeders, Grant Hart, The Great Depression, and his own band, The Chambermaids, in which he plays guitar and sings.

In addition to working at his studio, The Old Blackberry Way, Neil is also available for freelance engineering, project studio acoustical consulting, and general studio / recording consulting. He might be building more Deitz-style speaker cabinets since freaks keep asking him about them.
